MAKING COMMUNICATION A PRIORITY
We build trust in networking by checking and double checking with each other. Email and phone messages can fail us, and overwork and crises can make us unreachable. Communication is as vital for our work as circulation is for our health. Keep banging on the doors when you need to be heard!

INTRODUCING TWIGGY (YVONNE)
Ygossage@aol.com
Then I answered an ad for a part-time MT. I needed the extra money so I applied for the job. Boy was I surprised. I had taken a medical secretarial course at a local technical school but was not prepared for what I got myself into! Since I worked 8-4:30 at my day job and the girls at the hospital in transcription worked from 7:00-3:30, they had to wait 1-1/2 hours before I even arrived to start training me. Well, that lasted a total of two days.
>From then on, I trained myself because I was the only person who worked at night. I had to deliver the preop H&P's to the floor. I did this begrudgingly and attached a note to each one at the signature line: "This report has been typed by a new transcriptionist and has not been proofread. Please proofread before signing this report." Needless to say, I learned how to use my reference books to the best of my ability. This, I believe, gave me the drive to learn as much as I could, to look for those things I could not find, and to be the best I could be at this profession. This became the challenge of my life, to conquer this work.
Fifteen years later and my CMT certification behind me, I love my profession more and more each day. I encourage all people with a love for words and stories to consider medical transcription. It is very rewarding! I love medical transcription because I learn something new almost every day.
I am married to David who works for Procter and Gamble. My little girl, Brianna, is 3 years old. I have four brothers and two sisters. One of my brothers works for Siemens and fixes radiology equipment and one of my sisters is a psychiatric nurse. I love water skiing, snow skiing, white water rafting, and anything outdoors.
