Infectious Diseases, December 1996, Vol. 4, No.64

The lead article in this 12-page bimonthly newsletter is about the newly named cat-scratch disease, Bartonella henselae. Three short articles discuss the relationship of HSV with Bell's palsy, the recent Heptitis A outbreak from strawberries in Michigan, and a Dutch study on the effectiveness of antibiotics for sinusitis. Then there are word lists of ID terms and abbreviations, a few new words with definitions, and a few new medications. A column called "Transcription Tips" explains the origin of "fifth" and "sixth" disease (order of discovery), and the hepatitis strains A, B, C, D, E, F, G, non-A-E, non-A, and non-B. Finally, there is a letter to the editorand a cumulative index of the six 1996 issues by topics.
